PreLicensing

Obtaining a real estate license in Pennsylvania requires 75 hours of classroom instruction.

Post Licensing

Sales licensees are required to take 14 hours of mandatory modules.

Continuing Education

All licensees must complete 14 hours of education.

Broker License

A Broker License requires 240 hours of instruction.

New Agents

Are you taking Continuing Education for the first time?

Each NEW sales associate must renew their license by 5/31/2026.

The differences are date-related, regarding the specific CE requirement:

  • New sales associates, who are licensed from 12/1/2023 through 11/30/2025, must renew their licenses by 5/31/2026 by completing the 14-hour first mandatory renewal course/courses – General Module and either Residential Module or Commercial Module. NO COURSE EXCEPTIONS.
  • New sales associates, who receive licenses dated after 12/01/2025, must renew their licenses by 5/31/2026, but do not need to complete the 14-hour CE.

    (Please note: When they are renewing their licenses, they need to answer “Yes” to the CE question on the renewal application. The license will not be renewed with a “No”.)

Continuing Education Requirements

The RE License renewal period is June 1, 2024 – May 31, 2026

Out of the 14 CE hours course requirement for renewing the RE License by May 31, 2026, you must complete a minimum of 5 CE hours related to the following two topics:

1) Fair Housing: Two hours of CE on fair housing.

2) Agency relationships: Three hours of CE on agency relationships


These required CE courses are available in-person and online via the Alan Kells website through “The CE Shop”. The online course titles are listed below:


As a reminder: Each licensed member of NAR must complete the “Code of Ethics” training requirement by 12/31/2027. The current time frame is 1/1/2025 - 12/31/2027.

  • This course is available - for free - on NAR’s website: www.realtor.org.
  • The NAR free course does not count for CE. However, members can pay NAR to receive completed CE hours.
  • Submit your Ethics transcript to your Local NAR board before 12/31/2027.

Ethics is not required for June 1, 2024 – May 31, 2026, RE License Renewal period.
